By Thursday morning, the number of infected people identified had increased by 6,635 in 24 hours and 182 patients had died; the most recent data can be read at koronavírus.gov.hu.

In one day, 6,635 new Hungarian citizens were diagnosed with the new coronavirus infection (Covid-19), increasing the number of infected people identified in Hungary to 231,844.

Another sad record was set: the last 182 people to die in one day were mostly elderly, chronic patients, bringing the number of deaths to 5,324.

The number of recovered people is also constantly growing, currently 67,033 people, the number of active infected people is 159,487.

Twenty percent of those actively infected, 23 percent of the dead and 25 percent of those recovered were from Budapest.

Information shows that the number of new tests has risen to 26,000. If you can believe Thursday’s numbers, 25.48 percent of lab tests came back positive, an alarmingly high value. The positivity rate is five times higher than the WHO recommendation that a rate greater than 5 percent indicates insufficient evidence and an epidemic under controllable control. (This proportion is well above the WHO maximum of 12 percent.)

There are currently 7,693 hospitalized coronavirus patients, 663 of whom are on ventilators.

The operational court currently ordered special breaks in 425 kindergartens for one group, 212 kindergartens and 127 primary schools for the entire institution, as well as 670 primary schools for one or two classes and 63 primary schools for the entire institution – read on the government website.
