From the beginning of next year, the Minister in charge of the Prime Minister’s Office will be responsible for the use of EU funds.

According to a government decree published on Tuesday evening, as of January 1, 2021, the minister who heads the Prime Minister’s Office will be the member of the government responsible for the use of EU funds. This position is currently held by Gergely Gulyás.

According to the decree, the Minister will be responsible for preparing regulations for the implementation of government decisions related to the use of EU funds, as well as ensuring coordination between sectorial and territorial actors.

It will also be responsible for proposing the establishment and development of a management, financing, institutional, control and regulation system for development policy activities related to the use of European Union funds, that is, basically everything can be decided in based on your proposal.

According to current regulations, in the future Gulyás will hold negotiations with the institutions of the European Union on issues related to the use of European Union funds and the implementation of operational programs. This is also interesting because, precisely because of the veto of Viktor Orbán and his Polish colleague, there is no agreement on the EU budget.
