In a statement, József Szájer responded to press reports that a Hungarian MEP, who had since resigned, had also attended a sex party in Brussels that had been broken up by the police. According to press reports, the politician allegedly tried to escape over the wing.

In his statement, the Fidesz politician spoke as a house party about a fact written in the Belgian press. József Szájer also states that he did not use drugs, but at the same time he did not have an identity card.

A newspaper article appeared in the Belgian press today about a house party in Brussels on Friday, which I attended. After the police certificate, I indicated that I was a representative because I did not have an ID, the police carried out the procedure, received a verbal warning and then they took her home.

I did not use drugs, I offered to the police at the scene to give me an official test, but they did not. Police said an ecstasy pill was found. It’s not mine, I don’t know who put it up or how. I made a statement to the police about this.

I regret breaking the assembly rules, this was irresponsible on my part, and I will accept the sanctions that come with it.

To update: Meanwhile, the ad has disappeared from József Szájer’s page, it is no longer available, but we managed to take a screenshot of it.

The family of Fidesz’s EU party, the EPP, has stated at the Index’s request that they do not want to react to the scandal. However, in their letter they enclose the reaction in English from József Szájer, somewhat more detailed than the Hungarian publication. Szájer writes in it that he took on the political consequences of the scandal with his resignation on Sunday. He also apologizes to his family, colleagues, and voters.

I ask you to judge my departure in light of the hard work of the last thirty years.

Szájer writes. He adds that his stumbling block is strictly personal in nature and he takes responsibility for it in one person.

I urge everyone not to confuse my country and my in-laws

– writes the resigned representative.

The Belgian press wrote that a group sex party was held on the first floor of a bar on Friday night, attended by about 25 people, mostly men. The police dispersed the incident, which did not comply with Belgian epidemiological regulations. Authorities also found drugs at the party, according to the Belgian press.

József Szájer recently announced his resignation as a Member of the European Parliament.

My decision marks the end of a longer period of thought. The resignation has nothing to do with the content of the current fierce struggle on the European stage. In the current debate, I agree with the position of the Hungarian Government and support it

Said the politician Fidesz. He also wrote that his resignation would take effect on December 31, 2020.

In a statement sent to the MTI, the Fidesz-KDNP group in the European Parliament wrote after the resignation of József Szájer: the decision of the politician was received with sadness.

On behalf of ourselves and our entire political community, we, the members of the European Parliament group Fidesz-KDNP, thank József Szájer, who played a crucial role in allowing Hungarian civil conservatism and Christian democracy to take the place that it corresponds to them on the European political scene.

– He declared in his communication.

They also wrote that

József Szájer’s political creed, uncompromising representation of Hungarian sovereignty and the interests of Hungarian citizens are values that will remain the principles of a political group.
