Now seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, a British Mercedes driver, won the Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix on Sunday. This is the 35-year-old Hamilton’s 11th career victory and the 95th career victory of his career.

Hamilton started spectacularly well from the start, immediately knocking him off the field significantly as his teammate Valtteri Bottas, starting from second place, got stuck ahead of all four. Behind Hamilton, Verstappen red bullos finished second and Sergio Pérez pointos third. Two corners later, at the back of the field, Haas racer Romain Grosjean suddenly turned his race car to the right while accelerating, with the rear wheel hitting Danyiil Kvja’s (Alpha Tauri’s) front left tire, causing the French driver crashing into the nearby lane at tremendous speed.

Haas broke the barrier, Grosjean’s head was spared practically only with the HALO system known as halo, which has been mandatory in F1 since 2018. Upon impact, the Haas regularly split in two and the spilled fuel immediately caught fire. Grosjean did not lose consciousness, he freed himself from the burning car, and as judges and track workers tried to put out the fire, the French driver, apparently in shock, left the crash site on his own two feet.

Grosjean was rushed to the hospital for further exams with minor burns, and the race was interrupted with a red flag, and it took more than an hour to repair the tape railing.

The race could continue from the second lap with a new stop. The field didn’t swim this outing without an accident either, this time Lance Stroll (Racing Point) turned in front of Kvjat in a corner, and the collision of the Canadian driver flipped after the collision of the two race cars. Because of this, the safety car entered the track, putting the field in its path on lap eight.

For the first wheel changes, see 19-20. the line was fenced on the lap, and after that the order in the podium places did not change: Hamilton was chased by Verstappen and Pérez. At the jump, the drivers went back to the pits for new tires, on laps 35 and 36, but that didn’t change the order either.

As it got closer to his hair, Verstappen gave up his search for Hamilton and, with another wheel change, preferred to fight for the fastest lap to score an extra point in the World Championship, and he succeeded in this. Nothing threatened Hamilton’s victory, but Perez’s race car gave up three laps before the knockout, allowing the other Red Bull driver Alexander Albon to take the bottom step of the podium.

The penultimate race of the World Cup will also be held next weekend in Bahrain, called the Sahir Grand Prix.
