Coronavirus: the second wave, the second closure

Later than expected by many, but in mid-November, the Hungarian government also decided to try to stem the second wave of the coronavirus epidemic by introducing restrictions. At the time of the decision, 5,000 new infections had been identified per day and the number of deaths from the virus mostly ranged from 50 to 100 in 24 hours. The first step is a partial closure, but how effective it is is questionable. Follow our news!

By Sunday, another 6,819 people had been diagnosed with the new coronavirus infection in Hungary, bringing the number of identified infections to 211,527. There has been no example of a major increase in the number of cases per day: the record so far was recorded on November 16, when 6,495 new infections were recorded.

156 patients died, bringing the death toll to 4,672.

Never before has the number of deaths in a single day been so high. Most of the deaths, 152, were reported on Saturday morning.

55,637 people have been declared cured so far, bringing the number of known active infections to 151,218.

There are 7,590 coronavirus patients in need of hospital care on Sunday morning, 54 more than the day before. 657 of them are connected to fans, 13 more than before.

According to the government’s website on the epidemic, 16,311 coronavirus tests were performed last day, a total of 1,639,076 since the outbreak began, of which 41.80 percent were positive.

According to the recommendation of the World Health Organization (WHO), if a country conducts enough tests, it can have a true picture of the spread of the epidemic if no more than 5 percent of the tests performed give a positive result.

The information indicated that the number of confirmed infections appeared in ambulances, in filtered buses, and was also assessed among hospital staff through rapid tests. Cumulative test results for specific groups among daycare, kindergarten, school and social workers are expected early next week.
