The late István Cs. Szabó, actor, writer, poet, director, artistic director of the Buddha Puppet Theater – his family told MTI.

According to relatives, the 78-year-old artist

died of coronavirus infection on Wednesday.

István Cs. Szabó became known as a puppet actor since the 1960s. His main works included lectures, storybooks, radio shows, television shows, and movies.

He was co-author and protagonist of Magic workshop T.V. series. He worked as an actor at the State Puppet Theater, then the Budapest Children’s Theater, and then the Arany János Theater, and with his wife he was the traveling two-person Buda Puppet Theater performer for 50 years.

His best-known storybooks, from which radio and shadow games were made: Loq Island Fairy, Soma.

Known Puppet Shows: Fish adventure, The Adventures of Bubu, Sun soma, The insatiable rabbit. These were also used to make late-night television stories.

In addition, he participated in the making of other films and puppet pieces, the family said.

They added: István Cs. Szabó has also performed as a performer in recent years with the St. Elizabeth and Wass Albert evenings at the Árpád House.
