The news of Diego Maradona’s death shocked Argentina: with the death of one of the greatest footballers of all time, the country’s president, Alberto Fernéndez, ordered a three-day national duel.

Lionel Messi wrote that this is a sad day for his country, Argentina and soccer. “He left us, but he did not leave because Diego is eternal. I remember the wonderful moments he spent with him and I send my condolences to his family and friends.”
Gary Lineker, a former England national team fighter, said he was the best of the deceased world champion’s generation. “It was probably the best of all time. After his blessed but unkempt life, hopefully he will find peace in the hands of God.”
UEFA has announced that the legendary footballer will be commemorated with a minute of rest before the Champions League group stage match on Wednesday. (MTI, AS)
