János Volner said they put the camouflage parties in front of a border that makes their operation almost completely impossible. The deputy does not understand the reaction of the opposition.

We have “saved taxpayers billions of guilders” by excluding camouflage parties from the electoral system, said former MP János Volner, an independent MP who is currently chairman of the Volner Party.

On Monday, it turned out that the electoral law will be significantly amended if Parliament also approves Volner’s proposal voted in the Justice Committee on Tuesday that a party that independently nominates candidates in at least 14 counties and a minimum of 71 individual electoral districts in the capital.

Volner said that we are “putting camouflage parties” in front of a border that almost completely eliminates and makes their operation impossible, because only those with national support and organization can nominate candidates in 71 electoral districts. According to him, as a new party, they do not fear that they will not be able to nominate candidates in the 106 individual electoral districts.

This version is, incidentally, “tougher” than the one presented by the government in the first round, since it would have allowed nominations in 9 counties and 50 individual candidates. The government’s original proposal would not have prevented the opposition from running on two lists in the elections, but Volner’s would already do so, as there are a total of 106 individual constituencies and the opposition would nominate a common candidate everywhere. So they cannot unzip the two lists as they would have to face each other in many places.

In its explanatory memorandum, the government argued that the law should be amended to curb abuses of its institutional campaign finance system, in part in response to indications from parliamentary parties. Essentially the same argument was made by János Volner.

The Democratic Coalition responded to Volner’s amendment today using the anti-counterpart arm of Fidesz to further toughen the electoral law.

John Volner called the “attack by the opposition” unworthy and unjust. As he said, he presented his proposal at a press conference last week, but there are no left-wing media left, no comment has been made on his proposal by leftist politicians since the presentation.

However, they now pretend that what happened was against their intentions.

“If someone wants to start with Ferenc Gyurcsány on a list, he can do it until now, he can do it after that, we will not prevent the left parties at all,” he said. He stressed that there is no coercion by the opposition. “The Volner Party does not ask anyone to join forces, nor does it tell Péter Jakab to join Ferenc Gyurcsány, but they have decided to do so, a Baliberal coalition from Jobbik to the SE will be on the list,” he added. : “merging what belongs”.

The Parliamentary Justice Commission supported the amendment to nominate 71 individual candidates for the national list. If Parliament also accepts this, the opposition will have no choice but to have a common list.
