The Ministry of Innovation and Technology provides a total of 1 billion HUF in support of the purchase of electric bicycles in order to promote environmentally friendly transport and electromobility. The first application period begins on November 23, 2020 and ends on November 27. Thereafter, applications will be submitted monthly until October 29, 2021 or until budget is exhausted.
In the tender, people can get discounted electric bikes, mainly to make it easier for them to get to work. The application must be accompanied by proof of employment or income.
Support can be provided for up to half the value of the vehicle, up to 90,000 HUF for bikes with pedal sensors and 150,000 HUF for bikes with torque sensors.
The price limit for vehicles with torque sensors is 900,000 HUF, for pedal sensors 400,000 HUF, and they must also meet additional technical and environmental requirements.
By supporting the purchase of electric bicycles, less environmentally friendly road traffic can be reduced and the air in municipalities can be cleaner and of better quality, said Péte Kaderják, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Policy at the Ministry of Innovation and Technology. He added that, thanks to the tender, at least 1,600 but up to 2,700 tons of greenhouse gas emissions could be saved per year, depending on the number of vehicles supported and used on the way to work, equivalent to 275 but up to 465 homes. per year of GHG emissions. The quality of life in cities is improved by reducing the detrimental effect on health and reducing the burden in the interior areas.
An important element in the implementation of the Action Plan for the Protection of Climate and Nature is the greening of road transport, which is one of the major pollutants. The government’s steps also serve to revive the economy, put it on a new development path and promote sustainable growth, said government spokeswoman Alexandra Szentkirályi in connection with the tender. He noted that the new support program will further accelerate the spread of green vehicles in Hungary, the pace of which has already been at the forefront of Europe.

Bidding documents may be submitted in the same way as in previous calls, only electronically, through the bidding portal.
After completing the individual application submission stages, the IFKA Közhasznú Nonprofit Kft. Organization decides on the eligibility of the application within twenty working days. Then, it will issue the Grant Document for the purchase to the winning applicant within another 10 business days through the application portal.
