Prestigious security guards welcomed a student from the University of Theater and Film Arts who tried to place a red and white tape on the building. “Although bullying is probably the target, the situation is quite surprising,” one student told hvg.hu.

There is growing resistance from students and teachers to the reduction of the autonomy of the University of Theater and Film Arts (SZFE) due to the government’s decision to continue the university as a foundation under Attila Vidnyánszky. More and more world-famous artists are joining the solidarity movement around SZFE, but the Vidnyánszky family is not expanding. You can follow the latest developments in the SZFE scandal in our article series.

Let’s ignore these demonstrations, shall we?

With such and similar requests, the bald and knocked out security guards tried Friday to prevent a student from the University of Theater and Motion Picture Arts from placing a red and white tape on the building. This can be seen in the video that the university student – a young woman – sent to hvg.hu, as well as in the fact that the doorman states: in this case, the police must speak from now on.

“When we left the buildings due to the virus situation, the next morning they immediately removed the red and white deflector that had become a symbol of our resistance from the entrances. So, in the first online forum, we agreed that by complying with all epidemiological norms, for the purposes of individual political expression, within a perfectly legal framework, a person would put a tape on one of the columns in front of the Vas University building. Street every day ”, explains the university student. “We do this for a week and a half every day. The staff, probably in training, also take it every day. Today, however, what happened in the video happened. “

The students told hvg.hu that there had never been any security guards at the university before, and all the students they had spoken to since the incident said they had not met the men in the video so far at the university that, as the video can be heard at the beginning: the doorman of the Vas Street building calls it security, and it was videotaped while the student was preparing to record.

As these are big men, the goal is certainly harassment, but the situation is even more surprising.

The student who told us about it summed up his feelings.

The citizens of the university – students and professors – occupied the building on SZFE Vas Street on the night of September 1, and later the others, declaring that the members of the new leadership, whom they considered illegitimate, should not set foot there. Gábor Szarka, the newly appointed Chancellor, under whose instructions several rooms in the building where education was taught and who turned off the internet and electricity, was repeatedly exhorted students to leave the building, but this was not fulfilled until Due to the epidemic situation, the government did not introduce stricter restrictions, such as compulsory distance education in higher education. The students announced at this time 72 days after the university reservation that although they would leave the building, they would take the blockade. As they said then, “the university is not a building: the university is us.”

SZFE students on the blockade: “Do you think that if we turn off the light, we will run home?”

We are the university, not the buildings, say the students of the University of Theater and Cinema, who would take away the blockade after seventy-one days. They say they’re trying to share them in vain, they’ll only become more cohesive, and anyway: In the past two months, their stimulus threshold has risen enough to laugh at the measures devised against them.
