The Székesfehérvár Police Headquarters has initiated criminal proceedings against a 41-year-old man in Budapest on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
Thursday’s tragedy took place around 2 p.m. on the main road No. 7, outside Székesfehérvár.
According to the police report, K. Gergő, from Budapest, 41, was driving a Citroen truck coming from Székesfehérvár in the direction of Szabadbattyán, but during his journey he switched to the left lane on the 78-kilometer stretch, where he collided head-on with a Suzuki car.
During the accident, the 62-year-old Suzuki driver from Székesfehérvár was injured so badly that he lost his life on the spot.
An alcohol probe used against a Citroen driver indicated a positive value. He was detained, questioned, and later charged with his arrest.
