The Vatican said it was waiting for an explanation from Instagram after the liking of Pope Francis’ official profile was reflected in a photo of a poorly dressed Brazilian model.
It is not known how and when the photo was liked, which was finally liked with the profile on November 14.
The model, Natalia Garibotto, joked that she would at least make it to heaven.
A Vatican spokesman told The Guardian that it could be ruled out that the Pope himself liked the image and that an investigation into the matter would be launched.
The Pope’s social media interfaces are managed by an entire team, so more people can be considered as potential likes.
Pope Francis is quite popular on social media, followed by 7.4 million on Instagram and 18.8 million on Twitter. His posts are not written by him, with rare exceptions, but he nods before they leave, but there is no need for the blessing of a church leader to like the papal account.
