According to the court, the police made a mistake when they took belated action against Budaházys whispering in Aurora.

I’ll buy it

Police should have taken immediate action when, on September 26 last year, György Budaházy and dozens of far-right activists disrupted an LGBT-themed event in Aurora, Józsefváros. This was ruled out by a final ruling by the Metropolitan Court after several NGOs and individuals went to court for the delay in police action.

The Budaházyék appeared at the closed event just before the start, where they insulted participants, pushed them and chanted homophobic passwords, writes the Hungarian LGBT Association.

The police arrived early, but they only waited outside for 20 minutes, and then when they entered, they did not call Budaházyék to leave. However, according to the organizers, the situation raised at least a suspicion of a violation of the rules, but even a crime, since it is enough to scare a protected group against a protected group, physical violence is not necessary. The procrastination lasted about three hours, the event fell through and closed for the Aurora for a few hours.

When a complaint was filed, VIII. The district captaincy found an error only in the lack of action of the police when it turned out that the Budaházys were at the scene without permission. The police defended themselves by subsequently initiating infringement proceedings for unauthorized gathering on private property.

The complaint eventually reached the courts, and the Metropolitan Court ruled that

  • it was not reasonable to wait 20 minutes for the action commander,
  • already outside, in the garden room, the rape could have been detected

“The footage shows that the troublemakers at the event were able to remain on the scene and continue to harass those present because the police did not crack down to leave, but allowed their unwanted agitation and discussion to continue. As a result, the rape situation reported by the police dragged on for hours. […] they would have been forced to interrupt immediately ” – The Hungarian LGBT Association cites the verdict, which also explains why it is not possible to defend the position that the Budaházys only met peacefully in public places. For one thing, the restaurant is not a public place, but a public place where you can meet with the owner’s permission. On the other hand, intimidating protest does not enjoy the protection of fundamental rights.

When the country expects anti-epidemic measures, the government prioritizes the realization of its own power. Legalizing the theft of billions of billions of public property, the ideological war against sexual minorities, many changes to the electoral law to avoid the cooperation of the opposition … and there will be more ideas here.
