Here is the first great victory in the fight against the epidemic: the theaters deserve it

Even before the epidemiological restrictions were introduced, more than 10,000 tickets were sold to the eTheatre’s virtual auditorium in two months, generating tangible revenue for closed cinemas.

The closure of the theaters further increased demand for the country’s first developed performing arts streaming platform, the eSheater service, Világgazdaság writes. Although the eTheater is run by the Foundation for Theaters, a non-profit organization, the main objective was not to mitigate the damage caused by the pandemic, that is, not to generate income to help the theaters survive, but to record the creation of audience and theatrical performances.

Another problem is that cinemas can now generate a measurable amount of revenue through eTheatre. Due to the epidemic, the eTheater has remained almost the only platform through which it can be delivered to the audience with the right quality, Gergely Légrádi, the head of the organization told the newspaper.

The present-time broadcast cannot be rewound, everything happens in that moment, and the viewer can essentially watch the performance from the stage, while there is a broadcast where the viewer can interact interactively between two different camera angles like a broadcast director.

The details of the performances broadcast in Full HD were fine-tuned by the eTheater team together with the theaters. As a non-profit organization, the eTheater retains only the part necessary for the operation and development of the income from the sale of tickets, the rest belongs to the theaters.
