Austria has the highest rate of new coronavirus infections in the world, according to the ranking of the online database Our World in Data.
In Austria, the seven-day average is 831 new infections per million inhabitants, ahead of Georgia (781), Switzerland (743), the Czech Republic (674) and Slovenia (668). However, although Switzerland and the Czech Republic have apparently managed to slow the spread of the epidemic, the numbers in Austria have risen sharply since mid-October.
However, if the situation in Viktor Orbán’s favorite lab is so worrying, we can’t hope too well either.
We follow Austria because we believe that what will happen to them will be delayed with us with a small delay.
– said the Hungarian Prime Minister even a month ago. However, Viktor Orbán also said in several interviews that it is not so much the number of infections that matters, but
the most important thing, the fundamental thing is to save human lives, not to die. So the number of deaths is what I mainly look at.
Well, if we look at this, we can start to worry, because here comes the dubious glory that Hungary has surrounded Austria.
Although the Austrian government tightened precautionary measures on November 3, the measure was insufficient to slow the spread of the epidemic. To avoid overloading the health care system, the Vienna cabinet has decided to implement a further adjustment starting at 0am on Tuesday:
- the curfew extends throughout the day;
- outside of primary care stores all stores close;
- they move to a home office whenever possible;
- schools will switch to distance learning in all grades, and there will also be a guard on duty in kindergartens.
The latest pre-closure attacks had already started over the weekend, but with stores closed in Austria on Sundays anyway, the biggest store siege is expected today.
