After successful qualifiers for the European Championship on Thursday, the Hungarian national team participated in the Nations League on Sunday. This series could open a loophole for the 2022 World Cup this time.
The start of the game against Iceland has also changed in six places. The German contingent (Péter Gulácsi, Willi Orban, Roland Sallai and Ádám Szalai) returned to their club team, passing the sanction to Attila Szalai and Attila Fiola.
There was also a change in the bench: the federal captain of the coronavirus, Marco Rossi, was replaced by his number one assistant, Cosimo Inguscio, against Iceland. But since then his test has also been positive, so Zoltán Gera jumped next to the track.
Ákos Kecskés, the defender from Lugano, who leads the Swiss championship, appeared for the national team. He played in place of Attila Szalai, Gulács was replaced by Dibusz, Orbant Lang, Bese and Nikolics were added to the starting line.
The Serbs entered the field in much worse humor than the Hungarian team, they lost the European Championship qualifiers against the Scots at home with 11. In the Nations League, the undefeated Serbs took the lead, Radonjics ran the Kecskés debut and then he solved it only in the 17th minute. But the Hungarian team did not play badly in the first half either, Szoboszlai was in the game a lot, he got into a shooting situation several times, but this time he did not hit. Kalmár, meanwhile, tied in the 39th minute at the end of a good attack.
The Hungarian team was weaker in the second half, the Serbs spun until the end, but did not get the victory, they stayed 1-1. After the match, the Hungarian players were disappointed not to have won.
One match before the end, the Hungarian team has 8 points in the Nations League. The Russian team also scored the same amount, but because of the matches between them (they won 3-2 in Budapest, became 0-0 in Russia), they have the advantage. The Turks have 6 points and the Serbs 3 points. This means that Hungary certainly cannot be left out of this group. We would win all four if we scored more points in the last round than Russia.
In the last round, on Wednesday, Serbia will host Russia, Hungary Hungary.
