The police marched with great force towards the Montreal building of the game development company, where the workers fled to the roof.

There was no hostage-taking at the Montreal building of French game development company Ubisoft, where local police marched in great force on Friday afternoon local time, local press reported. The building was surrounded by police units, including commandos, after the hostage announcement was made, and an armored vehicle could also be seen.

A Ubisoft employee told Canadian television CTV that the company had asked workers to hide in locked rooms, silence their phones, and remain silent. Several workers fled to the roof, whose driveway was closed.

About two hours after their arrival, the police announced that no threats had been found, that no one was injured, and that they began to evacuate the building. The workers were expelled in various groups while the police searched the headquarters of the game development company.

Ubisoft confirmed that none of its employees had problems. According to a CTV article, it is unknown how many of the people in the building were employees of the game developer because other companies also have offices there.

Montreal police said an investigation had been launched into an emergency call that turned out to be camouflage, asking anyone with information about it to report it.
