The number of infected people identified increased by 5,097 and 99 patients died, according to koronavírus.gov.hu.
The new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) was detected in 5,097 new Hungarian citizens, thus increasing the number of infected people identified in Hungary to 131,887. Most of the 99 deaths were of the elderly, chronic, bringing the number of deaths to 2,883 and 29,802 have already been recovered. The number of active infected people is 99,202. 24 percent of the actively infected, 26 percent of the dead and 27 percent of those recovered are from Budapest. 6,690 coronavirus patients are being hospitalized, 518 of whom are connected to ventilators, the information page writes.
The number of tests reached 23,912 in the last 24 hours, of which 21.32 percent were positive, which is still more than three times the WHO recommendation, which is considered satisfactory if the rate of positive results does not exceeds 5 percent. So the current value is dangerously high.
There are currently 6,690 people receiving treatment at the hospital, an increase from 264 in the last day. Compared with the previous period, the number of people exposed to ventilators in 24 hours has increased significantly: the condition of 32 people has worsened and 518 Hungarians already need artificial respiration. The last time such a large re-intubation was performed was over the weekend, but so far this number has increased by 12-13 patients per week, respectively.
Although the epidemic has spread a little more slowly in the past 24 hours, more than 611,000 new infections have been recorded worldwide. The number of new infections increased by 674,000 a day earlier, that is, from Wednesday to Thursday, according to data published by Johns Hopkins University in the US on Friday, shortly before 7 a.m. A total of 52.7 million people have been infected worldwide.
