The possibility of a repayment moratorium introduced by the Government on March 19, 2020 was used by 35 percent of clients with repaid student loans, some 40,000 people.

Sixty-five percent of clients repaid their student loans during the moratorium, said CEO Péter Magyar. The record number of student loan applications this year and continuing student interest clearly demonstrate that there has never been a greater need and demand for student loans than in the current epidemic, amid restrictions on higher education.

The Student Loan Center, in cooperation with the Government, seeks to support higher education students by taking steps to extend the moratorium on loan repayments generally. such as the introduction of the free and interest-free Student Loan Plus, which can be requested for up to half a million florins, and the increase of the maximum monthly limit of the free-use Student Loan1 from HUF 70,000 to HUF 150,000. The success of Diákhitel Plusz is well illustrated by the fact that in just a few months almost 30,000 students have taken advantage of this opportunity, and currently around 100 students a day need this temporary help, which is available until December 31 ”, reported Péter Magyar.
