Three also complained that the chancellor had not been admitted by the protesting students, but police said his personal freedom had not been violated.

Gábor Szarka, rector of the University of Theater and Cinematographic Arts (SZFE), tried to enter the institution’s building on Vas Street on October 8, but the protesting students were arrested.

After the incident, three people also reported to the police on suspicion of violation of personal freedom and other crimes.

At the same time, the Budapest Police Headquarters (BRFK) informed Népszava that all the reports had been rejected because there was no crime.

Therefore, an investigation into the case was not launched, as the authorities had ruled out the violation even before the investigation began.

Gábor Szarka can now access any of the university buildings unhindered, as all high schools were evacuated and a night curfew was imposed, citing the epidemic situation, which forced students to lift the blockade.

SZFE students on the blockade: “Do you think that if we turn off the light, we will run home?”

We are the university, not the buildings, say the students of the University of Theater and Cinema, who would take away the blockade after seventy-one days. They say they’re trying to share them in vain, they’ll only become more cohesive, and anyway: In the past two months, their stimulus threshold has risen enough to laugh at the measures devised against them.

The number of independent publishing offices of power is steadily declining, and those that still exist are trying to stay afloat with a growing headwind. At HVG we persevere, we do not give in to pressure and we bring national and international news every day.

That is why we ask you, our readers, to support us, support us, join our membership and renew it!

And we promise to keep doing our best for you in all circumstances!
