The restrictions that define our lives for at least 30 days have taken effect. Although the details of the hardening have been published in the Hungarian Gazette, many questions remain about how they should be interpreted in our daily lives. Index’s editorial team brings together the most important questions and answers. This is also important because those who do not comply with the new rules can face hefty fines. We’ve already written about how to travel smart after 8pm, now we’ve put on masks.

1. If I expose my feet from home, do I have to wear a mask everywhere?

In essence, yes, but the new regulation also covers exceptional situations. With the exception of children under the age of six, all are required to use public transport, wait for public transport (waiting areas), shops, malls, catering stores, including shopping and work, administration, facilities health care (except the care of a nursing patient). Ward), to wear a mask in social institutions.

The most important change from today is that the wearing of masks is mandatory in some public areas of settlements with more than 10,000 inhabitants. It is up to the mayor to designate these areas. Information from local governments is worth paying attention to.

2. Where or in what situations is it not mandatory to wear a mask?

The use of a mask in sports facilities, offices, factory facilities, parks or green areas is not yet mandatory. In the last two cases, they cannot be considered public areas, in which case the maintainer can determine the rule of wearing a mask.

3. Should I wear a mask for individual outdoor sports? If I go for a run before work in the morning or after work in the afternoon, without violating the curfew period, do I have to wear a mask?

Optional for sports activities. Feel free to go for a run. Of course, it doesn’t hurt to avoid group situations while playing sports alone. The regulation stipulates that individual recreational sports activities, in particular running, walking and cycling, are allowed in public places, in public places or on outdoor sports fields. However, the practice of team sports is prohibited, so volleyball, handball, basketball, hockey and soccer cannot be played.

4. If I use my bicycle not for sports but to travel to work, do I have to wear a mask?

The regulation does not distinguish between cycling, self-employment and commuting. In the spring, the first wave included, among other things, recommendations for cyclists to keep their distance and wear goggles and a protective mask.

5. What kind of mask should be used according to the rules?

Wear a medical mask, a safety mask, or a mask made of cloth or other materials. So scarves, shawls or other pieces of material are not allowed. It is part of the regulation: the mask must be worn in such a way that it constantly covers the nose and mouth. It is forbidden for someone to put the shirt on their nose because they left home without a mask.

6. What about smokers? How to turn it on if you have to wear a mask in public areas?

It has already been regulated where it can and cannot be turned on. Smoking was not allowed in public transport, workplaces, railway stations, transport stops, underpasses reserved for pedestrian traffic, playgrounds, educational institutions or within 5 meters of its outer border before epidemiological regulations. Also in the case of designated smoking areas, it is worth considering that more people can turn there without a mask while everyone is smoking tobacco on top of each other. This is not exactly a safe way for the virus to spread.

7. What if I am thirsty, have to blow my nose, or maybe I have to make a phone call on one of the public transports?

We have to wear the mask in public transport, if we blow our noses quickly, it is still not a violation. At the same time, it should be noted that, for example, the consumption of food and beverages is prohibited on BKK flights, regardless of the epidemic situation. And the phone call has to be resolved into a mask, or we can wait until we get down.

8. If I leave the house wearing a mask after 8 pm, is the curfew still valid?

Wearing a mask alone cannot bypass curfew. Everyone should be home between 8 pm and 5 am A curfew exemption case is work, but it must be proven. Of course, the mask should be worn when traveling to or from work.

9. I went out one morning with a mask, but then I went somewhere during the day, I don’t have a mask. Now what?

Whoever left his mask is not exempt from the rules. It is recommended to replace it as soon as possible. It doesn’t hurt that everyone wears more masks.

10. I didn’t wash off my mask in a week, I accidentally fell on my veggie during lunch. Does anyone check the cleanliness of my mask?

The regulation does not cover this. But also for our safety and that of others, it is important to make sure that our mask is clean and disinfected. You have to take into account the number of times they can be worn and washed for the different types. It is worth keeping our washable masks clean every two or three days. According to a previous recommendation of the Hungarian Medical Chamber, it is worth washing the tissue mask at 60 degrees. The disposable mask should only be worn for four to five hours.
