Cecília Müller highlighted that the coronavirus epidemic is increasing throughout the continent. He said 103 of the majority of the dead were elderly, chronic patients, so the number of deaths rose to 2,596 and 27,585 had already recovered.
He also spoke of 6,153 patients treated in hospitals and 461 patients with ventilators. He stressed that it can be seen that the numbers are constantly increasing, so it is important to fully comply with the increasingly strict rules.
Müller is pleased to announce that 1 million favipiravir drugs have arrived from China and another million drugs will also arrive from Japan. He stressed that he was confident in the success of the measures that would be introduced today. He said the new rules of procedure, which were issued Tuesday, would help ensure the proper functioning of the care system.
The provision of flu vaccines is ongoing, and more shipments will be delivered later this week.
