The restrictive measures were introduced in both countries three weeks ago. However, many patients still receive care in hospitals.

Coronavirus: the second wave, the second closure

Later than expected by many, but in mid-November, the Hungarian government also decided to try to curb the second wave of the coronavirus epidemic by introducing restrictions. At the time of the decision, 5,000 new infections a day had been identified and the number of deaths from the virus was mostly between 50 and 100 in 24 hours. The first step is partial closure, but how effective it is is questionable. Follow our news!

In the Netherlands, the number of newly identified coronavirus infections fell by 46 percent in one week, three weeks after restrictive measures and stricter closures. According to the Dutch Public Health Agency, 4,702 people were registered on Monday, almost half the number a week ago.

According to statistics, The Hague, Amsterdam and Rotterdam remain the most infected cities.

The proportion of patients admitted to the hospital increased by 9 percent from Sunday to Monday, but this number is also decreasing compared to last week’s data.

Also on Monday, 40 people died from the disease caused by the epidemic, while last week the number of deaths averaged 83 per day.

In the Netherlands, 414,745 people have been infected since the virus appeared, and extensive testing only began in early June.

In neighboring Belgium, the number of new infections is also declining, down 40 percent from last week’s statistics, according to data released last week.

Between October 30 and November 6, an average of nearly 9,500 people were infected, but deaths doubled in the past seven days, to 179 deaths on a daily average.

The number of hospital admissions, according to press reports, peaked last week and has been declining since then, experts say, due to closures introduced three weeks ago. Due to the saturation of the hospital, 80 infected patients have been transferred to health centers in Germany since the beginning of October.

The closures similar to the spring ones were decided by the Belgian federal government. Only the most necessary stores will be open, there will be no school education for the next two weeks and after that they will partially switch to distance education.
