There has been a significant reduction in the number and proportion of people screened for coronavirus tests in the second round of testing in Slovakia this weekend, Slovak Prime Minister Igor Matovic announced at a press conference with various members of his government. in Bratislava on Monday, according to MTI.
The weekend’s second round of testing, which used so-called antigen testing, involved 2 million 44,000 people. Among them, 13,509 were found infected, representing 0.66 percent. Data released Monday showed a 58 percent drop in infection rates from previous coronavirus tests.
The second round of coronavirus testing in Slovakia was carried out in 45 districts of the country, in those districts where the infection rate was measured above 0.7 percent in the previous round of testing. According to Kollár, more selective tests would be needed, focusing on regions and places at risk.
Health Minister Marek Krajcí said in a statement Monday that the infection rate in the country’s nursing homes and hospitals remains high, leaving many doctors and nurses “out of the system,” but the situation is not yet. review.
