The population is running out of patience in the face of restrictive measures imposed to curb the coronavirus epidemic, but all are adhering to stricter hygiene standards, the national medical director asked on Sunday in a statement to public media, highlighting that all the ages and people have a responsibility.

Cecília Müller said in a statement issued at the medical office in Nagyyvenyim that the coronavirus epidemic is increasing at an accelerated rate, the number of patients doubling every 11-14 days. He added that there has been a very dynamic increase across Europe, with the healthcare system almost reaching the limit of its performance in many countries.

The dynamics of the second wave of the epidemic is also extremely intense in Hungary, exponentially, that is, the number of infected people is increasing every day. This is because a person infected with coronavirus can transmit the disease to more people, he explained, emphasizing that isolating those infected is extremely important to prevent the spread of the epidemic.

He recalled that in the last 24 hours there have been 4,673 new infections, reaching the number of laboratory tests 20,000 per day.

The infection has been detected in 109,616 people since the beginning of the epidemic, and today 5,803 people are being treated in the hospital, 417 with a ventilator.

Cecília Müller confirmed that non-urgent interventions will be postponed to maintain the functioning of the health system and the availability of an adequate number of hospital beds.

According to the medical director, everyone should follow a “healthy defensive instinct,” part of which is not going where it is not necessary. Cecília Müller also recommended the use of outdoor masks in cases where it is not possible to maintain a distance of one and a half meters between people, and it is also called a greeting with a handshake and a kiss to avoid this.
