Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Minister Antal Rogán held talks with the president of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, László Parragh, on Sunday.

Coronavirus – the second wave

Half a year after the spring outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the second wave of the pandemic has arrived. The radical increase in the number of infected is forcing more and more countries to re-impose restrictions, despite the fact that the world economy has not even recovered from the effects of the spring outbreak. According to the signs, the second wave also reached Hungary. Follow our news!

I have had important discussions

– Prime Minister Viktor Orbán began his video presentation with a meeting with László Parragh, president of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, at the Carmelite Monastery on Sunday morning. Minister Antal Rogán was also present at the meeting.

Orbán spoke about informing the president of MKIK about the expected sanitary measures (he did not elaborate on the details of this, after his discussion with health professionals on Saturday he said that more decisions are expected at the meeting of operational personnel) and told him that the vaccine is a good solution.

We have good hopes, we can already see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Ninety days ago in Orbán it sounds good, but things are not so simple

The prime minister would take out the emergency for ninety days because he already sees the end of the epidemic. However, the Prime Minister promised to start mass vaccinations only in the spring, but as a result, we still have to wait: it is not entirely certain that there are enough vaccines and full vaccination will not be achieved in a few minutes.

After long weeks before the vaccine, the economics also need to be addressed. “Besides humans, the virus also attacks the fabric of the economy.” Orbán says that the epidemic affects the entire economy, but considers the government’s impact on small and medium-sized businesses to be the most important.

He asked László Parragh to make a proposal to the government and to work more closely in the coming weeks and months to help SMEs.

They are especially important because they employ the majority of Hungarians.

Orbán concluded his short video by saying that health decisions are coming, then economic measures will follow, so he is waiting for the chamber’s proposal.
