There are no parties, no concerts, but life doesn’t stop at the Aquarium Club. According to a government decree Tuesday, venues that provide music services as a primary service may not be open except those where a previously redeemed seat is required to participate. The new restrictive measures mean that the Aquarium can’t really function as a multifunctional cultural events center, they can hardly think about it until spring. We will definitely be open for a few more weeks. It all depends on how much loss we can continue to operate with to support staff and most of our colleagues without having to fire anyone. The restrictions have already pushed back home occupancy by roughly ninety percent, and another adjustment will result in an even more drastic decline, so we need to minimize our costs. They could hold various corporate events and conferences, but regardless of restrictive measures, business partners also cancel those reservations one after another due to the coronavirus.
What will happen in the next period, I do not know. It is unpredictable when the epidemic situation improves – in a few months, it may take longer – and they even have to prepare for the scenario that if the situation worsens even more, there will be more tightening, restaurants will not be able to stay open either. Like in spring.
Unfortunately, everything is on the deck, but we are sure we can stay open. That would be a good message. I see that it is not necessarily the government’s intention to close everything again. While we are open, we welcome guests. We follow the rules, we have checked if everyone is wearing their mask so far. In addition, we have felt that this does not deter people but, on the contrary, only increases their sense of security.
