The new management of the University of Theater and Cinematographic Arts sent a letter to its students: the buildings will remain closed until February, the academic year will be suspended. Chancellor Gábor Szarka began his letter: “Due to the blockade that paralyzed the university, the management has not been able to enter the university facilities for more than a month, it can make limited decisions, it cannot control the real processes of education and the good operation of the facilities ”.

As they write, the negotiations were rejected by the students and the faculty, so the Foundation for the Arts of Theater and Film, as maintainer of the University of Theater and Film Arts, made the following decisions:

  • The academic year 2020/2021 can be continued from February 1, 2021, until then no educational activity can be carried out at the university in any way.
  • The credits of subjects taken in the first semester of the 2020/2021 academic year cannot be verified, so there is no way to recognize them.

It can also be read on the SZFE website that the Board of the Foundation has requested the university management to adopt the necessary measures to implement the above, inform university citizens accordingly and extend the academic year as necessary enabling the completion of the first semester in the following semesters. provided.

They added that support decisions do not affect the existence of the student’s legal relationship, nor do they result in the suspension or termination of the student’s legal relationship. In addition, the measures do not affect student employment contracts or Student Loan contracts, and indicate that students’ social and study scholarships are awarded in accordance with the applicable regulations.

The university buildings will be closed from November 9, 2020 to February 1, 2021. For those university students who are temporarily unable to provide accommodation, the Chancellor will provide accommodation based on a reasoned request.

It was also stated that students will not be required to pay a refund fee until February 1, 2021, payments already made will be refunded or, at the student’s option, if credited for the semester beginning February 1 , will be credited for the repeated semester.
