Neumann Labs first made the PCR self-sampling test method available to the domestic market in May. Patient self-examination also works with 94 percent accuracy compared to the sample taken by the doctor. It is not only used by individuals, small businesses and large companies to evaluate their peers.
With 20 years of experience diagnosing viruses, Neumann Labs says patients are gaining confidence in self-sampling tests, which is less inconvenient than medical sampling. This is because it is not necessary to place it so deep into the nasal cavity, thus avoiding the examination method that many find painful.
The coronavirus epidemic is clearly on the rise in Hungary and sadly it appears that many new patients can also be expected in the coming months. This is supported by the fact that more than 20 percent of the coronavirus tests conducted at Neumann Labs in the recent past have shown a positive result.
The seasonal flu pandemic is all about this. Although this is mainly true in Hungary during winter, sporadic influenza illnesses can occur as early as autumn. The seasonal flu virus can infect up to 20 percent of the population each year and is responsible for an average of 650,000 deaths worldwide each year, of which 70,000 die in the European region.
Those most at risk are those who contract the coronavirus and the flu at the same time, because in this case, the course of the disease can be much more severe and there is twice the chance of a fatal outcome. The combined presence of the two epidemics will put even more pressure on medical care and diagnostic care in the coming months. However, this test can be done at home.
“At the same time, we consider it very important to clarify the panorama on the different types of coronavirus tests, because only then is it possible to combat the epidemic effectively. It doesn’t matter at all what diagnostic test we run. Rapid tests are not specifically recommended for testing asymptomatic individuals, and if they give a negative result, they must be confirmed by a PCR test, that is, they cannot determine the real viral infection with high precision ”, emphasizes Miklós Nyíri, CEO from Neumann Labs.
