Stab and gunshot wounds: seven are in life-threatening condition after Vienna attack

A total of seven people are in a critical and life-threatening condition after the Vienna attack, the Austrian Standard wrote. The newspaper on Tuesday morning Michael Binder, citing the medical director of the Vienna Medical Association, said the seven people in question were being treated for gunshot or puncture wounds.

Binder said his relatives did not even have precise knowledge of the condition of the injured, as no information was released. The medical director said a total of 17 victims are being treated in various hospitals, most with gunshot wounds but also cuts.

He added that 10 people have moderate or minor injuries. However, it is not yet foreseeable whether those affected will be discharged from the hospital. as he said, the situation is also psychologically challenging: “The patients are in shock.” The police officer injured in the attack is in critical but stable condition.

The attack began at eight o’clock on Monday night in the vicinity of the Seitenstettengasse street synagogue, there were no people in the house of prayer at that time, so it is not yet known if this was the target. Heavily armed assassins shot many in various locations. Their exact motives are not yet known, but it has already become clear that there has been a terrorist attack with an Islamist background. Four civilians were killed during the murder and the police fired on an attacker.
