Even today, a nasty crash looms in the stock markets

  • Foreign stock markets rose on Thursday, driven in part by better-than-expected US GDP data and in part by strong corporate flash reports, with Amazon and Facebook reporting higher-than-expected third-quarter revenue, supporting a full day raise. Meanwhile, Twitter did not present its growth expectations, so it fell sharply. Amazon may be particularly impressed by investors, as it is clear that 2020 will be the most profitable year for the company. The Dow finally ended trading Thursday up 0.5%, the S&P 500 was up 1.2% and the Nasdaq up 1.9%.
  • Asian markets were unaffected by the good mood of foreign stock exchanges, with the Nikkei falling 1.5 percent, while the Shanghai stock market fell 1.4 percent and the Hong Kong index. it lost 1.9 percent of its value. The picture was similar in other parts of Asia, with South Korea’s Kospi slipping 2.1 percent and Singapore’s index 1 percent.
  • US futures indices are falling this morning, Dow futures are down more than 500 points, down 2 percent, and DAX futures project a 2.1 percent drop at the market open on Friday.
  • Friday will begin with the release of data by the CSO, and the statistical office will release earnings figures for August. In addition, preliminary data on German GDP will be received and Eurostat will publish its first estimate of economic performance in the EU and the euro area, which will not yet have data disaggregated by Member State.
  • The price of oil declined this morning from yesterday, the December WTI futures fell 0.5 percent to $ 36 a barrel. The price of gold, on the other hand, is on the rise and currently costs $ 1,869.91 an ounce.
  • The guilder has weakened against the euro and one euro already costs 368.5 guilders, while a dollar costs 315.5 guilders.

There are still some quick reports to come, perhaps the most exciting being reports from two oil giants, ExxonMobil and Chevron.
