In Sweden, according to the latest data on Thursday, the spread of the coronavirus epidemic has reached another peak, and as a result, residents of various districts are advised not to use public transport or community venues.

According to the Institute of Public Health, there are 3,254 new confirmed infections in 24 hours, the highest number since the outbreak. In a country with a population of 10.3 million, the total number of infected people is estimated at 121,000, and 5,943 people died from the disease.

In Sweden, the virus has so far spread rather slowly compared to other countries, Anders Tegnell, a leading epidemiologist, told a news conference. According to him, the system of “voluntary restrictions” worked well in the country and many people adhered to the health recommendations.

The number of patients requiring intensive care in hospitals is relatively low. Approximately 15 percent of the beds for this purpose are occupied. However, in some of the more densely populated areas, such as Stockholm, the capital and several other cities in western Sweden, it is recommended that don’t visit shopping malls, museums, libraries, swimming pools, and gyms until at least November 18.It is also not recommended that people visit each other, but teleworking is recommended, ”Tegnell said.
