Tunisia’s foreign affairs have strongly condemned the assassination, rejected all forms of terrorism and extremism, and warned against the ideological and political exploitation of religions.

Tunisia on Thursday condemned the terrorist attack on the Notre-Dame Basilica in Nice that day and announced that it would launch an investigation on suspicion that the attacker was a Tunisian national. Various sources have reported that the killer, who killed three people in the morning, is of Tunisian descent.

All that is known about the attacker is that he was born in Tunisia on March 29, 1999. He was in control of Lampedusa and was taken to Bari, where he was taken to a terminal reserved for illegal border crossers after being photographed.
