The COVID-19 epidemic has entered a new phase across Europe, far surpassing the spring peaks, the Hungarian Medical Chamber (MOK) begins its recent announcement. He writes that, according to international trends, the epidemic situation is expected to worsen rapidly also in Hungary, and calls on the government to take immediate action “on the brink of a health crisis, for the benefit of doctors and patients.”
His suggestions in points are as follows:
- tightening the rules for mass events, but at least requiring the use of masks and distance in mass events,
- more restrictions on opening hours and maximum number of guests in restaurants and entertainment venues,
- more consistent and intensive government communication to encourage the use of masks and distance,
- special measures to protect seniors, including reinstalling the senior shopping bar,
- the government should support the MOK in communicating against antivirus and antivirus groups,
- reduction of other healthcare tasks in hospitals treating coronavirus patients,
- the protection of healthcare workers over 65 (the MOK wants older workers to be able to withdraw from the front line of care if they so wish),
- increased protection and regular testing of healthcare workers,
- raise public awareness of the need to limit social contact,
- and the MOK would also like the government to provide them with the documents on which the epidemic is based.
The MOK also writes that “the current capacity for contact testing and investigation is no longer sufficient to track the spread of the epidemic,” so the government is being asked to encourage people to reduce social contact, as this it is the only way to limit the spread of the disease.
According to the House, if the government does not act on its proposals, we will face hundreds of deaths per day in the near future, and the number of new infections per day will rise to thousands.
“The Chamber, representing 48,000 Hungarian doctors, provides its professional support in relation to the above and calls on the Hungarian Government to take strict measures in accordance with international recommendations and practices as soon as possible to prevent a health and humanitarian disaster caused by the epidemic. ” – end the announcement on the MOK website.
