The renovation of the central section of metro line 3 will begin on November 7, and it will be possible to travel by metro replacement buses between Nagyvárad tér and Lehel tér, the Budapest Transport Center (BKK) informed MTI on Monday.
At the time of closure of the section between Lehel tér and Nagyvárad tér, metro line 3 will run from Újpest center to Lehel tér from Monday to Friday and at weekends, and from Kőbánya-Kispest to Nagyvárad tér. On the lost section, there is a subway replacement bus, “in the usual way, making the most of the capacity of the road”, every 45 seconds during peak hours.
They added that during the renovation of the middle section of the metro, BKK will also expand the offer of public transport services that bypass the closed section and are already used for the substitution of the north and south metro, as an additional alternative to the replacement buses of the metro.
Travelers to and from the city center are advised to use the other three metro lines, tram 4-6, tram 2, which starts more frequently than usual, and trams 47 and 49, which pass by Kiskörút.
They added that the city center can also be reached directly from Nagyvárad tér with the new tram sign marked 2M, and several trolleybuses will run on extended routes starting next Monday.
BKK will assist passengers arriving from North Buda and North Pest and crossing the city by expanding tram line 1 and launching the new 1M flight between Óbuda and Népliget.
Between the north of the city and the city center, BKK, in addition to using the metro to Lehel tér, recommends the use of alternative routes already known during the renovation of the north section of the metro. From Újpest the express 20E, which leaves more frequently than usual, from Rákospalota and Újpalota buses 5 and 7E, from Óbuda the Buda tram network, tram 1 and H5 HÉV, and from Angyalföld the 105. bus.
Those arriving from the south of the city will benefit from the fact that the new flights introduced during the renovation of the now-delivered southern section of the metro will be maintained by BKK.
