Ukraine banned the entry of two senior Hungarian officials during local elections due to “turmoil” in Transcarpathia, Ukraine’s MTI Foreign Minister Dmitro Kuleba said. He did not reveal anything about the person, but indicated that

they also initiated a ban on the entry of other Hungarian citizens who actively “interfered” in the internal affairs of Ukraine during the elections.

“Soon we will inform our partners in detail about the fact of the Hungarian intervention in the elections, we have already informed the OSCE observation mission about this,” said the Chancellor, whose announcement was also reported by the Transcarpathia.ma portal with based on Ukrainian sources. Kuleba also stated when announcing the decision:

“My principle is very simple: if they hit, you have to hit back in response.”

Hours earlier, István Íjgyártó, Hungarian ambassador in Kiev, was asked to attend the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry and was given a protest list.

Addressing the Index, Péter Szijjártó had the following to say about the procedure of the Ukrainian party:

“We have not received any notification, but if so, it is an extremely uneducated step that will take Ukraine far enough off the path of European integration.”
