The Mercedes-Benz factory in Kecskemét carries out reconstruction and maintenance work every winter, with which the factory prepares for the next year of production. The Christmas holiday period is still used to carry out this work in the usual way. Slightly more complete reconstruction work will be carried out this year, so the production halt is scheduled to begin on December 18 and production will resume on January 17 next year, according to the company’s letter.
The plant closed multiple times this year, first pausing production for five weeks in late March due to the coronavirus, and then a one-week shutdown later in the summer.
