Badacsonytomaj and Tapolca police helped hikers in trouble near Nemesgulács.

The Veszprém County Police Headquarters received a report on Friday around 3:00 p.m. that two Kaposvár residents, a woman and a man, were asking for help because they had slipped on a rock near Nemesgulács and were holding on to their roots so as not to fall off the mountain.

Fortunately, district officers and patrols from the Badacsonytomaj Police Station and the Tapolca Police Station soon found them and then rescued them in cooperation with disaster management personnel. The police removed him safely from the mountain and escorted the tourists to his car.

A couple of good tips

To ensure the safety of hikers, the Veszprém County Police Headquarters recommends that

  • Whoever is hiking, charge their mobile phone and use the map apps before they go.
  • Find out in advance about the details of the planned route,
  • shape at the end of the tour so that you can comfortably reach your destination before dark.
  • Return to the populated area or join another group of hikers from an uncertain or unknown location.
  • If you get lost, stay put and call for help. Stay calm and think about where you started, where you met people.
