The sad news was reported by the German tabloid Bild, which writes a Facebook post by legendary circus philanthropist, René Casselly, that two elephants from Sada’s safari park, Mambo and Betty, have died.

Heartbroken, we announce that Mambo and Betty are dead. We managed to save Tonga’s life after a three-day fight. It is not yet clear what caused the death of the animals, as soon as I have more information about it, I will contact you. My heart ached, these animals were part of my life, they were more than elephants, they were members of my family. The whole family was devastated. An unspeakable tragedy happened, we ask everyone to understand that we had not communicated the news before, but we did not have the strength to do so. You will always live in my heart, RIP Mambo & Betty.

Bild cites the entry that Blikk reviewed. Mambo, 37, was the only circus bull in Europe, acting like the stars of the stage alongside his partner, Betty, 35. The animals of the Casselly circus family perished in a single night in Sad’s safari park.

The information was made public by animal rights activists, but they claim that the animals died in late summer. Daniela Freyer, co-founder of the animal welfare organization Pro Wildlife, told the newspaper that after one action, the animals died in a truck.

There was no autopsy, the vets could not determine the cause of death, the animals were buried in the park area. The animals may have been infected with a virus.
