The first presidential candidate debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump on September 30, 2020 was memorable, with debaters (this was more typical of Trump) regularly cutting off words, not letting the other get their message across.

The committee that organized the debate said on Monday that the candidates’ microphone would be muted in the next debate within 2 minutes when the parties could, in theory, make their main allegations on the issue without interruption, Reuters writes. In the previous debate, there was hardly a two-minute period in which the candidates had not cut off each other’s word.

Trump’s campaign staff opposed the amendment, but did not indicate that they would not participate in the debate. Donald Trump himself spoke, calling the measure unfair, but indicating that he was participating in the debate.

The second debate was postponed because it would have been held online due to Trump’s illness, but the president did not want to participate. By the way, according to evaluations, Joe Biden won the first debate, and the gap between the two also began to widen in favor of the Democratic candidate after the first debate.
