János Bencsik (independent) asked the Prime Minister why it had not been possible to create Hungarian-owned companies with high added value in the last ten years, which were competitive with foreign multis and not only operated from overvalued public purchases and subsidies diverted from the EU .

In his response, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said that while the deputy accused the government of elitism, it was basically made up of “commoners.” He added that in terms of poverty, it is not possible to compare Hungary today with that of ten years ago, according to all international reports, it has managed to reduce poverty. He spoke about the fact that 38 thousand Hungarian companies export, of which 30 thousand are nationally owned.

According to him, the big Hungarian companies are right in the world, he mentioned Molt, OTP, Richter, MVM, Master Good, Hellt, Picket, Wallis, Wáberer, Cordia, Futureal as examples.

Management of epidemics

Gergely Arató (DK) emphasized that tests are a prerequisite for protection against a coronavirus epidemic, because without them, treating an epidemic is like driving a car with your eyes closed. “The epidemic is spreading, but the government is not testing,” he said, adding that the number of tests has been declining since September, by around 1,000 tests per million inhabitants a day, compared to 1980 in Austria. to get a realistic image and to defend yourself effectively. Are they beginning to test or close the country? – I ask.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán reacted: 1,896 people are currently being treated in hospital for the coronavirus disease, 188 of them for ventilation. He said that 904,306 PCR tests have been performed for free so far and epidemiologists are monitoring what new testing methods can be found in the world. In this regard, he reported that

so-called antigen tests work just as reliably as PCR tests, so experts suggested antigen tests be introduced as well, so it will start too, perhaps on Tuesday.

Gergely Arató expressed satisfaction with the introduction of a new testing method, but complained that the Prime Minister had not given an answer on whether the number of tests would be increased. He also expected an answer as to why a referendum initiative in the National Electoral Commission that allowed everyone to request a free test was blocked.

The prime minister responded that the tests and how it is specifically a professional epidemiological issue is not worth turning into a political issue. The government is doing everything it can to defend itself -He affirmed, adding that the opposition does not value the work of health workers, does not help the country in its defense, but asked that at least it not hinder it.

Tímea Szabó (Dialogue) asked if the government would accept the proposals now presented by the Medical Chamber and if the nurses would receive a salary increase of 80 percent. He believed that the passage of doctors in the law on salary increases and the fact that doctors could not accept a second job could cause a disaster in health care.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said that many issues still need to be regulated, this also applies to the transfer. At the same time, this tool must be available within healthcare. Legally, there is no emergency at this time, but the rerouting is inevitably necessary to save people’s lives and provide them care, he said.
