Katalin Novák said this means a savings of HUF 2 million for a HUF 50 million property.

About paying the fee

According to the rules, during the purchase of a home, the seller is subject to income tax, while the buyer must pay a tax on the acquisition of the property.

The real estate purchase tax is 4 per cent of the default purchase price, and 2 per cent and a maximum of 200 million HUF on top of 1 billion HUF.

However, there are various discounts and exemptions, so in some cases the amount of the fee may be reduced. As per Katalin Novák’s current announcement, all CSOK apps will be added to the exemption list.

The buyer is obliged to report the sale to NAV and the fee will be paid in the following months. The value of 4 per cent means that, for example, in the case of a 30 million apartment it is 1.2 million HUF, while in the case of a 50 million apartment it is an additional charge of 2 million HUF in addition to the purchase price. More details coming soon.
