Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg has been infected with the corona virus, writes the MTI, citing a foreign spokesman.
According to the information, the head of the ministry allegedly contracted the infection at the meeting of the foreign ministers of the EU member states in Luxembourg on Monday. On Friday, Belgian Foreign Minister Sophie Wilmes said she would go into voluntary quarantine because she had signs of a coronavirus infection.
The Austrian Foreign Minister shows no symptoms. Schallenberg attended a meeting of the Austrian government on Wednesday, where everyone wore a mask that covered their mouth and nose. However, as a precautionary measure, all members of the government will be tested for the corona virus on Saturday. They will also test all employees of the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Parliament with whom the Minister came into direct contact this week. All of Schallenberg’s programs for the coming week have been canceled, including a trip to London scheduled for Monday, a visit to the Copenhagen office on Tuesday, and a meeting with his Greek and Cypriot office partners scheduled for Thursday and Friday.
