The Interior Minister, Sándor Pintér, admitted that a mistake was made when rescuing the paraglider that fell from the tree due to the wind from the rotor of the defense helicopter, according to the minutes of the meeting of the National Defense and Compliance Commission of the Law.

“It is quite certain that an error occurred during the backup. They wanted so much to help the plane that, unfortunately, this excessive help led to his death. But the excessive desire to help cannot lead anyone to risk the lives of others, that is why we are investigating the matter in the framework of a criminal process, “said Pintér.

In an accident in early July, a paraglider got caught in a tree but had no problems, but a defense helicopter was dispatched to help it, the rotor of which hit a windstorm such that the man crashed and later died in hospital.

The Budapest Regional Investigation Prosecutor’s Office is investigating a negligent threat in a fatal occupation, but has not questioned anyone as a suspect in the three months since the accident. The meeting of the Parliamentary Defense and Law Enforcement Commission was also held on September 29 in such a way that Parliament did not send an invitation or report on public service television.
