Private events are now banned in public places in France, Prime Minister Jean Castex said at a press conference in Paris on Thursday, where he and members of his government outlined the details of a nightly curfew announced in nine major cities to curb the coronavirus epidemic.
In his television address Wednesday night, President Emmanuel Macron announced that From Saturday, from 9 am to 6 pm, nine main cities (Paris, Lille, Rouen, Saint-Etienne, Toulouse, Lyon, Grenoble, Aix-en-Provence and Marseille and Montpellier) will have a curfew.The strong and rapid restriction is justified by the clear worsening of the epidemic situation since the beginning of October, according to the prime minister, after

The government is introducing a system similar to the spring general quarantine: everyone must fill out a form in advance stating the reason and time to leave. The Minister of Economy, Bruno Le Maire, indicated that companies with less than fifty employees in areas subject to curfew benefit from the government’s solidarity fund if their turnover loss reaches 50 percent. While the restriction lasts, which is expected to last six weeks, the government will reserve one billion euros to support the companies involved.
