On October 22, starting at 5 p.m., passengers will be able to use the M3 metro section between Kőbánya-Kispest and Nagyvárad tér, the Budapest Transport Center (BKK) and Budapesti Közlekedési Vállalat Zrt. (BKV), MTI reported Thursday in a joint statement.

The most spectacular change will be the four rebuilt stations, but also the renovation of the tunnel spaces, the railway network, the railway and safety equipment, the information elements and the electronic network of the metro line, they noted.

After delivery, the metro will run along the entire line, but will not stop at the four previously closed stations in the middle section (Arany János utca, Ferenciek tere, Corvin district and Semmelweis Clinics). BKK and BKV promised detailed information on the reconstruction of the central section of the metro line at a later date.

It was recalled that in April 2019 the renovation works of the southern section of the metro line began. As a result, “the completely renovated Határ út, Pöttyös utca, Ecseri út and Népliget stations of the M3 metro have been clean and modern, the stops are more comfortable, safer and thanks to their LED lighting they have not only become brighter, but also more energy efficient, “they wrote.

At the same time, they indicated that it was even more important for a modern public transport service that the infrastructure of the entire line had been renewed: spaces out of station, tracks, railways, security, ventilation, mechanical systems and elements of information to the passenger .

The modernization of the southern section will continue until the end of 2021 with the implementation of full accessibility. Lifts have already been installed at the Határ út and Népliget stations, and preparatory work is still underway at the Pöttyös utca and Ecseri út stations.
