Part of the money was donated to their children.

The employer of a previously homeless couple was able to move into their mother’s vacant apartment. While searching for towels, the woman who moved found a metal box in the closet containing three envelopes containing cash worth at least 1.5 million guilders, the prosecutor’s office said.

Later, with the money, the couple bought gold jewelry, a cell phone, food and drinks, and some of it was donated to their children.

The prosecution accuses the perpetrators of stealing to obtain more value. The crime is punishable by up to three years in prison.

The Győr District Court makes a decision on the merits in the case.
