In a report published several times on Tuesday, WMO drew attention to the increasing number of climate-related natural disasters year after year. Although the number of natural disasters and the magnitude of the material damage they cause increase year after year, the number of deaths associated with each natural disaster has dropped by an average of one third.
The 2020 State of Climate Services Report, produced by 16 international agencies and maintenance institutions, calls on governments to spend more money on early warning systems to help each country better prepare for, respond to, and mitigate the effects of natural disasters. .
