In Sajópüspöki, Sajó showed a water level of 210 centimeters at two in the afternoon on Tuesday, and at five in the afternoon it was already 240 centimeters, according to data published on the website of the National Water Directorate. Gabriella Siklós, spokeswoman for the Directorate General for Water, told the telegraph office that first-rate flood preparation had been ordered for the entire length of the Bánréve – Felsőzsolca and Miskolc – Sajópüspök flood protection sections.

There is a second degree of readiness in the upper reaches of the river.

The spokesperson added that on Tuesday the rains were strongest in the Bódva and Hernád river basins, then decreased slightly at noon, and the heaviest rain was located over the Bükk and Mátra and Sajó river basins in Slovakia. Preparation is also in the first stage in the Hernád Hernádnémeti – Hernádnémeti and Hidasnémeti – Bőcs flood protection sections.
