The International Swimming League (ISL) will take control of the Danube Arena for six weeks starting on October 16, and special arrangements will be made for the series participants due to the epidemic. Including competitors and their coaches, organizers, the competition court and service providers, as well as members of the medical and inspection team, the number of people covered by the 12-page “Prevention and Intervention Protocol” exceeds 1300 – portal report according to.

This was highlighted by Professor Béla Merkely, Rector of Semmelweis University, head of the medical team responsible for inspections and compliance, told the Szpress Press Service that participants will spend the next few weeks in a strictly controlled area of only a few kilometers squares.

The bubble includes the Danube Arena, the large swimming pool at Dagály Beach covered with a 50 meter tent, the accommodation, but also the team transport buses that will be disinfected several times a day. All competitors and their crew members who had already moved to the official accommodation, i.e. the two Margaret Island hotels, were required to have an official document certifying two negative SARS CoV2 PCR tests performed five days prior to the start of the competitions. The tests are repeated every five days during the competitions, and if a positive result is found, the competitor in question must be quarantined in a separate hotel room for 14 days, where he will be monitored, while in the most severe cases, treatment will continue in the hospital.

Béla Merkely emphasized that two positive cases had already been examined on Monday and acted in accordance with the prescribed protocol.

All participants in the contest must recognize that they must not leave the bubble under any circumstances in their own interest and in order to protect the health of their colleagues. The only exceptions are health walks on Margarita Island for no more than 90 minutes, which, in turn, should not affect any public place, emphasized the first man of the health medical team, who did not deny that the inspection unit is already known as the Covid Commando.

The degree of rigor is well illustrated by the fact that competitors will not be able to bring even their favorite pets to the Danube Arena, but group photos, handshakes and hugs will also be prohibited. The use of a nasal and mouth mask and a distance of 2 meters outside the pool is a basic requirement for participants, who can only follow the prescribed route inside the Danube Arena. In training sessions, only five swimmers can practice in a lane at a time, but they even control how to get to the round by avoiding each other, Infostart noted.
